Chocolate is the most popular sweet treat in the world. People around the world consume more than 3million tons of cocoa beans a year, according to the World Cocoa Foundation. Chocolate is a generally accepted food that millions of people enjoy everyday, thanks to its unique, sweet and rich taste.

Cocoa, the key ingredient in chocolate contains biologically active phenolic compounds. The higher the cocoa content, the more benefits there are. Certain ways in which chocolate consumption can lead weight lose are explained below;

Body mass index is used by many dieticians and professional healthcare personnels to determine the ideal weigh of an individual. High cortisol levels also leads to binge eating in some people . Consuming dark chocolate increases the endorphin and serotonin levels of the brain. Exercise is an important component of weight loss, but many dieters find this area a very big challenge. Dark chocolate contains anti-inflammatory properties that can make your body feel lighter. You may experience less pain during and after exercising and when you feel good, you are more likely to start an exercise plan and stick to it.

Remember, chocolate is healthiest when eaten in moderation because many of the protective effects that chocolate may offer might be mitigated by over consumption.
