This week we give the Chef Spotlight to Lovisa Namwandi, well-known as Shekupe Botha Owner and founder of Shekupes Kitchen.

A 24-year-old, a qualified teacher, and a self-taught caterer. Born in a small village called Eheke and grew up in Ondangwa and Oniipa.

Lovisa officially started her business in 2021 selling lunch packs and used her 2020 refund money to buy kitchen utensils.

Her passion for cooking grew and she began catering for weddings.

Lovisa Namwandi:

Growing up I was a bad cook. I only knew how to cook pap but I’m lucky to be born into a family of good cooks, my Aunties taught me the basics, and my mother is good with salads and she taught me 3 amazing salad recipes. Most of my recipes are self-taught. I used to order food that I wanted to learn how to prepare myself, whenever I was at any restaurant, and then go home and try to replicate the recipe. The goal was to get my recipe to taste like the ones I enjoyed in the restaurants.

I could have never done it without God.

Isaiah 60:22

Interviewer:

 Why do you cook?

Lovisa Namwandi:

I have loved and enjoyed cooking since childhood. I would always pretend to cook using sand and serve my grandparents. Cooking is a passion I was born with, and I would love to share my talent and recipes so people can taste my delicious food.
