Wandile Sihlobo is a chief economist from South Africa, named to the AFN 100 in 2025 for tracking South Africa's 2025 farm recovery as Agbiz chief economist.
As chief economist of Agbiz, Wandile Sihlobo was a leading public voice on South Africa's 2025 farm recovery. In July 2025 he said the strong harvest, with commercial maize estimated at 15.03 million tonnes, up 17% on the drought year, would ease food inflation. In his year-end review he put farm exports at US$11.7 billion for the first three quarters, up 10%, and named foot-and-mouth disease the sector's biggest problem.
