Marcus Samuelsson is a chef and restaurateur from Ethiopia, named to the AFN 100 in 2025 for opening Marcus DC, named one of America's most beautiful new restaurants.
On 3 June 2025 Marcus Samuelsson opened Marcus DC at the Morrow Hotel in Washington, an 80-seat restaurant celebrating Black culinary traditions across Washington, Ethiopia and Sweden. Its signature Swediopian, a cured salmon, nods to his Ethiopian birth and Swedish upbringing. Robb Report then named it one of the Most Beautiful New Restaurants in America for 2025. He called it the first restaurant his team was doing on its own terms.
