Chris Khalifa is a co-founder from Egypt, named to the AFN 100 in 2025 for taking Zooba to 21st at MENA's 50 Best Restaurants.
In January 2025 Zooba, the Cairo restaurant Chris Khalifa co-founded in 2012 with chef Moustafa Elrefaey, ranked 21st at Middle East and North Africa's 50 Best Restaurants, the second-highest Egyptian entry after Khufu's. It was one of seven Egyptian restaurants on the 2025 list. 50 Best describes Khalifa as an Egyptian-American businessman who wanted to bring his home country into the conversation through modern Egyptian food.
