Serigne Mbaye is a chef from Senegal, named to the AFN 100 in 2024 for winning James Beard Best New Restaurant with Dakar NOLA, his Senegalese and Creole kitchen.
Dakar NOLA, Serigne Mbaye's restaurant in New Orleans, won Best New Restaurant at the 2024 James Beard Awards, announced on 10 June 2024 in Chicago. The April 2024 finalist list described its food as Senegalese and West African, and HYFIN profiled him that month among the year's Black finalists, pointing to his West African roots and a menu that blends Senegalese and Creole cooking.
