Samson Alemu is a founder from Ethiopia, named to the AFN 100 in 2024 for taking first place at the AYuTe Africa NextGen awards with Thur Biotech's biofertilisers.
Thur Biotech, founded by Samson Alemu, took first place at the inaugural AYuTe Africa NextGen awards, held by Heifer International in Kigali in June 2024. The Ethiopian company makes bacterial biofertilisers that can replace chemical fertilisers, improving efficiency for smallholder farmers while protecting soil quality. Heifer and its partners promised technical support to all 15 finalists to help them deploy and scale their solutions.
