In a mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour, ground peanuts, baking powder, salt, and sugar (if using).
2 cups wheat, 1 cup ground peanuts (roasted and finely ground), 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup sugar (optional, for a sweeter version)
Gradually add water to the dry ingredients and mix well until a firm dough is formed. The dough should be pliable and not too sticky. Adjust the water quantity as needed.
Water (as needed)
Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into thin circles or squares, about 1/8 inch thick.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 350°F (175°C).
Vegetable oil (for deep frying)
Carefully slide the rolled dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Flip them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Remove the fried Gullisuwa from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Allow them to cool before serving.
