In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
1½ cup all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt
In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
2 large ripe banana mashed
Add the mashed bananas, eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix. A few lumps are okay.
2 large eggs, 1 cup milk, ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your waffle iron, and lightly grease it if necessary.
Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the hot waffle iron (the amount will depend on the size and design of your waffle iron).
Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, usually about 3-5 minutes.
Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and place them on a plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.
Serve the banana waffles warm with your favorite toppings, such as sliced bananas, maple syrup, chopped nuts, or whipped cream.
