Plantain porridge is made by cooking tiny cuts of plantains and some vegetables. It is a popular Nigerian dish and quite enjoyable. With so many diets made with it, plantain is undoubtedly a culinary star. If you’re searching for a filling, healthy breakfast that will keep you going till lunch, this plantain porridge is for you.

Is Ripe or Unripe Plantain Better For Cooking Your Plantain Porridge?

Unripe plantains aren’t particularly appetizing to many people; they prefer ripe ones due to noticeable taste differences. Although ripe plantains taste better than unripe ones, this does not mean that they may be better than the unripe ones. It all depends on your choice.

Plantain Porridge can be made with ripe or unripe plantains, or a combination of the two. The green (unripe) plantains are thought to have greater healing benefits than matured plantains, although they are both suitable for this dish.

However, if you’re making this dish for kids, the ripe plantain is mostly preferred.
